Shri Basaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha (B.V.V.S) was founded in the year 1906 by Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji. Today the sangha has a has about 114 educational institutions from schooling to Post graduate, spread over districts of north Karnataka state. They cover disciplines like Engineering, Ayurved, Medical Sciences, Science, Arts, Commerce and Law, along with Pre primary, primary and high schools. B.V.V.S. Ayurved Medical College and Hospital Bagalkot was established in the year 1998, offering Bachelor degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.). This college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and is approved by Government of Karnataka. It is also recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine and Department of AYUSH, New Delhi. Every year it has an intake capacity of 50 students, and nearby coming with Post Graduate Courses. B.V.V.S. Ayurved Medical College and Hospital Bagalkot is attached with 150 bed hospital. It is well established with IPD, OPD wards, regularly attended by highly qualified doctors. It has well trained supporting staff along with excellent infrastructure with in-house facilities for treatment of all the types of patients.
