J.S.S. Ayurveda Medical College, Mysore was established in the year 1996-97 to produce efficient Ayurvedic physicians/investigator/academicians. The college offers Bachelor and Post graduate degree in Ayurveda. It will endeavour to achieve a center for excellence in Ayurveda Education and Research, with a aim of providing quality health care to the population. The college is allianced with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka . The courses offered to the students are approved by Central Council of Indian Medicine, Delhi Recognized by the Government of Karnataka.
The college provides the facilities such as sports, well equipped laboratories, herbal garden, hostels, auditorium. The library is for staff and studens with about 4425 books for reference. J.S.S. Ayurveda Medical College has different branches such as centre for naturopathy, centre for physiotherapy, institute for speech and hearing, college of nursing and hospital consisting 150 beds facility with in and out patients. The garden consisting more than 500 species in multiples, which fulfills the need of plant material to hospital. A mini Herb garden is, also developed for demonstration purpose that enables the students to identify the plants used in Ayurveda more aptly. There are 14 departments in the college, with the staff of high profile.

Duration of the course : The College offers 5 and 1/2 years BAMS Degree with the present intake of 50. The Academic study extends for a period of 4 and 1/2 years of three phases, each phase having the duration of 18 months which is followed by one year of compulsory internship. PG Course in Rasashastra has been started from the academic year 2002-03 with the intake of four.
